JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE: 

Laborer

 

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The laborer position provides general labor, assisting with the collection and processing of recyclables at the Recycling Center.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a valid driver’s license.

• Be familiar with all work procedures and methods.

• Safely and effectively operate forklift, skid loader, hand truck, and balers.

• Assist with sorting required of recyclable materials.

• Assist with unloading recyclable materials from residential vehicles in the drive-thru.

• Assist with unloading recyclable materials from SEIRD trucks.

• Assist with preparing SEIRD trucks for following day’s collection routes.

• Ability to load and unload a semi-trailer.

• Assist with processing of recyclables such as bailing materials, packaging electronics, sorting household hazardous waste, boxing fluorescent bulbs, etc.

• Assist with removal of debris from and around buildings and other grounds upkeep, as necessary.

• Mandatory overtime is required each month.

• Must have ability to perform repetitious lifting of up to +/- 75 pounds

• Able and willing to learn new job-relevant skills when needed.

• Notify supervisor of equipment maintenance or repairs needed, in a timely manner.

• Report to supervisor any problem or situation encountered that is out of the ordinary, in a timely manner.

• Attend meetings and/or trainings as requested.

• Adhere to general safety plan and engage in safety procedures for self, coworkers, and public.

• Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the District and a favorable image of the District.

• Perform other duties as requested by management.
