Southeastern Indiana Recycling District

Formerly, the Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District (SISWD), the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District (SEIRD) offers the same great recycling center opportunities along with reuse stores, Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and pharmaceutical waste disposal, disaster debris management, youth and adult environmental education, and free-standing co-mingled containers throughout several of our counties.

SEIRD services seven Indiana counties including: Franklin, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, and Switzerland. The district is comprised of seven recycle centers and six reuse centers. Information on individual county recycle and reuse centers are available on this website.

SEIRD Hosting Indiana Master Naturalist Course in 2019

Online Registration begins February 5 at 6am EST

The Southeastern Indiana Recycling District (SEIRD) is offering another Indiana Master Naturalist (IMN) course in 2019. The IMN course will meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of March, April, and May from 6-9pm. Four Saturday morning field trips/outdoor labs will be scheduled at area state and federal properties during the course.

The 2019 Classes and field trips will cover such topics as Indiana raptors, timber management and identification, crayfish frogs, backyard wildlife habitat, wetlands, soil science, DIY maple syrup, medicinal mushrooms, managing invasive plants, and more. Detailed informational brochures are available by clicking HERE.

Registration opens Tuesday, February 5th. Applications will not be accepted before February 5th.

The online registration Link will be active at 6am EST on February 5th. Please click HERE. Please note: Registration is limited to 30 and is first come, first serve. Also note: This course fills quickly. SEIRD will maintain a waiting list if you are not one of the first 30 to register. For further information please call 812.574.4080 or email aaron@seird.org.

Minor changes to accepted plastics begins January 1

As of January 1, 2019, we are implementing a few slight changes only in the plastic materials we accept. None of the other items we accept will change. These changes are a part of the Recycle Right initiative, SEIRD's commitment to bettering the program for the counties we serve.
