SEIRD stands ready to help when disaster strikes our seven counties
The seven counties that comprise the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District are, without question, the prettiest part of Indiana. Our hills, hollers, hardwood forests, lakes and waterways, and majestic overlooks are hard to beat for sheer beauty! Unfortunately, we are not immune to disaster in this region. Tornadoes and floods are the most common culprit and can do unthinkable damage.
SEIRD, in an effort to fully serve its district, partners alongside the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to assist in the removal of debris that mother nature’s fury sometimes leaves behind. The role of SEIRD is to not only help remove disaster debris but also to assess the degree and expense of the damages to any given region.
On March 2, 2012 our district was hit with major tornado
activity. In two separate communities the devastation was significant
and, worse yet, lives were lost. SEIRD was on hand to assist with the
clean up and to arrange the hauling away of debris. Certainly we pray
there will not be a repeat of March 2 but SEIRD is prepared to help in the
event another disaster strikes our region.
